John Sipos

Before being called to the Bar in 1990, John received his legal training in Toronto, Ontario at the firm of Hamilton Shilton and Shaw. John received the benefit of working closely with John F. Hamilton, who now sits at the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, Ontario. Bruce Shilton was another mentor, who now sits in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket, Ontario. Ann Marie Shaw also provided mentoring to John and now resides with the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa, Ontario.

Benefiting from his past training, John commenced his legal career in London, Ontario with the firm of Lamon McGrath. He continued to receive excellent training from Mr. McGrath who currently sits on the Ontario Court of Justice in London, Ontario.
Moving from student to practioner, John immediately applied his training to all levels of court in Ontario including the Provincial Division, General Division, Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice as well as the Ontario Court of Appeal
John currently specializes in the area of Civil Litigation including breach of contract, employment and labour law, construction liens, personal injury, constructive trusts, wrongful death and estate disputes. In addition, John has developed expertise in the Family Law, having comprehensive knowledge of serparation agreements, custody and access disputes, calculations of net family property, spousal support and dependent's relief applications.
John has honed his own litigation skills in the Criminal Courts by being the Federal Drug Prosecutor for the County of Perth from 1995 to 2011. John practices exclusively as a Defense Counsel in the criminal courts in matters involving serious offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
John has resided in St. Marys, Ontario for the past 22 years with his wife, Barbara Tuer and four children John, Tommy, Marguerite and Sarah Tuer - Sipos. He has been actively involved in the community by volunteering on the Commitee of Adjustment L.A.C.A.C., Local Architectural Conservation Association Committee as well as being significantly involved in the relief program, Children of Chernobyl. John and his entire family also volunteer their time and home to the Canada World Youth Program, hosting a child from Indonesia.
Active himself in skiing and tennis, John has volunteered as a coach in St. Marys Minor Soccer Association and continues to follow the progress of the Spartans and Juggernauts.
John was first attracted to the beauty of St. Marys 22 years ago and moved from Toronto hoping to raise a family in a small and close knit community. He has never looked back.
John brings to the firm a wealth of experience from 20+ years in the Courts of Ontario. He very much looks forward to assisting anyone who requires help when faced with the challenge of finding themselves in a lawsuit.
